Sr. Director of Internal Communications, Copilot

Microsoft Copilot is seeking a Senior Director of Internal Communications to lead the narrative, communications rhythm, and employee engagement strategy for one of its most dynamic product organizations.

The successful candidate will serve as a strategic communications partner to senior leadership, crafting clear and compelling internal narratives about business direction, product evolution, organizational change, and leadership priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the internal communications strategy for a large, fast-paced product organization.
• Translate leadership vision and business priorities into clear internal storylines and messaging frameworks.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to shape internal messaging and create leadership materials.
• Build the internal narrative architecture, connecting product evolution, organizational change, and leadership priorities.
• Establish and improve communications channels and cadences.
• Work cross-functionally to understand audience needs and identify communication gaps.
• Support communications during periods of change.
• Partner with tactical communications operators.
• Use data and feedback to evaluate communications effectiveness.
• Foster a culture of innovation and two-way dialogue with employees.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8+ years of experience in communications or a related field.
• Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree and 8+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience.
• Experience supporting senior executives and leading internal communications in high-growth technology environments.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and maintain strategic clarity.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,800 – $277,200 per year. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is USD $202,400 – $303,600 per year.
