Description

We are seeking a Control and Automation Engineer to join our team at our Chihuahua, Mexico facility. As a Control and Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for our manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Use Vis Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation, review and follow up automation project's and installations
  • Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems supporting the day-to-day production issues when required
  • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements
  • Define, design and maintain the plant controls strategy, ensuring alignment with ME Group Staff
  • Review, approve and load all machine controls software to ensure availability of latest level
  • Conduct Machine Acceptance for all new and retool equipment coming from New Programs, CIB projects or maintenance actions
  • Review and approve technical drawings
  • Prepare projects to improve machine controls and issue PIR's and orders
  • Conduct technical review of recaps ensuring accomplishment of Ford Engineering Spec and local regulations
  • Review and approve new technologies, materials and components (including obsolescence)
  • Provide technical support for energy efficiency activities related to electrical circuits
  • Coordinate and support of vendor installations in plant

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls (RSLogix)
  • Electrical background (electrician or technician)
  • Related experience
  • Allen Bradley Panel View use/programming AB Servo and AB VFD drives
  • Familiarity with VFD's, Armor starts, encoders, network/Ethernet controls
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
  • Fanuc robot experience
  • Kawasaki programming, RS Logics, Microsoft office
  • PLC
  • Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics
  • Experienced in laser burning
  • Strong understanding of conveyors system programming and body tooling techniques, in addition to networking understanding, DH+, Ethernet, remote IO
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Simulation modeling exposure
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
  • DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience
  • TQM and Kaizen Methods
  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience
  • Visual Factory Management

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
