Description
We are seeking a Control and Automation Engineer to join our team at our Chihuahua, Mexico facility. As a Control and Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for our manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Use Vis Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation, review and follow up automation project's and installations
- Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems supporting the day-to-day production issues when required
- Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements
- Define, design and maintain the plant controls strategy, ensuring alignment with ME Group Staff
- Review, approve and load all machine controls software to ensure availability of latest level
- Conduct Machine Acceptance for all new and retool equipment coming from New Programs, CIB projects or maintenance actions
- Review and approve technical drawings
- Prepare projects to improve machine controls and issue PIR's and orders
- Conduct technical review of recaps ensuring accomplishment of Ford Engineering Spec and local regulations
- Review and approve new technologies, materials and components (including obsolescence)
- Provide technical support for energy efficiency activities related to electrical circuits
- Coordinate and support of vendor installations in plant
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls (RSLogix)
- Electrical background (electrician or technician)
- Related experience
- Allen Bradley Panel View use/programming AB Servo and AB VFD drives
- Familiarity with VFD's, Armor starts, encoders, network/Ethernet controls
- Strong problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs
- Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
- Fanuc robot experience
- Kawasaki programming, RS Logics, Microsoft office
- PLC
- Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics
- Experienced in laser burning
- Strong understanding of conveyors system programming and body tooling techniques, in addition to networking understanding, DH+, Ethernet, remote IO
- Ability to read blueprints
- Simulation modeling exposure
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
- Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
- DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience
- TQM and Kaizen Methods
- FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience
- Visual Factory Management
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 2+ years of related experience
- Strong problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs
- Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
