Description
We are seeking an Assistant Library Maintainer to maintain and repair library building systems and equipment to provide an environment that is clean, safe and comfortable for our Library users and employees.
Under the direction of a Supervising Maintainer, the Assistant Maintainer will perform minor repairs to the lighting equipment, including the relamping and ballast replacement of all electrical fixtures. They will also perform elementary preventative maintenance work on mechanical equipment, air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
The successful candidate will have experience and education with electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, and experience in building trades in and in the operation and maintenance of large scale heating, air conditioning (Large Central Units and Package Units), elevator, electrical, and plumbing systems.
They will also have good oral and written communication skills, ability to set up work from scaffolds and ladders, and basic knowledge of computers.
The working environment will be in a public library setting, including mechanical rooms, roofs, and office buildings. The successful candidate will be required to lift up to 40 lbs. and may require travel within NYC.
