Head of Sales Data Science & Analytics

Gusto is seeking an experienced Senior Data Science Leader to empower its Sales Data team, which powers insights, forecasting, and measurement infrastructure for acquiring, expanding, and retaining its revenue base.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Sales data, a commitment to building strong foundations for scale, paired with a genuine command of experimentation and quasi-experimental methods, and can instill these capabilities across the team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the Sales Analytics team to deliver impact across customer acquisition and product expansion sales teams
• Conducting deep-dive analyses to identify revenue drivers and anomalies, and translating complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations
• Rebuilding the data foundation alongside Data Engineering and Service Platform partners
• Partnering with key stakeholders to align on a shared data and infrastructure roadmap
• Evolving forecasting capabilities to incorporate more rigorous analytics methods
• Enabling self-service analytics with AI
• Driving team excellence and recruiting, mentoring, and developing a high-performing analytics team

Requirements include:

• 10+ years of experience in data science or related fields, with at least 4+ years leading a growing analytics team

• Statistical and causal inference expertise
• Revenue data systems expertise
• Infrastructure-first mindset
• Technical depth with strong SQL skills, hands-on experience with dbt and Snowflake
• Sales and revenue domain knowledge

• Proven track record of successfully building and leading analytics functions in a high-growth SaaS or technology environment

The annual base salary compensation range for this role is $218,000 - $255,000 in San Francisco & New York, and $185,000 - $217,000 in Denver.
