Description
At Gusto, you'll be a key engineer helping ship real, user-facing AI at Gusto Retirement.
This role involves owning problems end-to-end, getting working software in front of customers, and iterating quickly. You'll work closely with a small, senior team to implement language-model-powered experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and ship production features using large language models to solve customer problems.
- Implement and integrate LLMs, including prompting, tool loops, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Make pragmatic architecture decisions and keep the work unblocked.
- Partner with product and design to refine ideas and iterate quickly.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate with existing systems.
- Write clear, reliable, and well-tested code that ships quickly and scales well.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production products.
- Hands-on experience implementing LLM-powered features.
- Strong engineering skills, including services, APIs, and data flows.
- Experience running or contributing to a team's execution.
- Bias to action and clear communication.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, or comparable technologies.

Salary:
- Targeted at $164,000-$204,000 in Denver and most remote locations.
- $199,000-$247,000 for San Francisco and New York.
