Cloudflare is one of the most dynamic and innovative companies providing services on the Internet. As regulation of the Internet across a number of technologies and jurisdictions is exploding, Cloudflare is seeking to be a leader and trusted voice for understanding the implications of these new technologies around the globe.

We're looking for a new team member who can help foster our unique corporate philosophy and approach, in which the security and privacy of our customers are paramount. This is a fast-moving work environment with goals that are closely linked to business priorities, however, policy issues are typically within the areas of cybersecurity, AI, data protection/privacy and intermediary liability.

Responsibilities

Lead Cloudflare's government-facing advocacy in the United States.

Evaluate US policy conversations and legislative developments, and work to understand the impact on Cloudflare across its full product set.

Develop US policy strategy that is aligned with Cloudflare's international public policy efforts and global business priorities.

Participate in and shape Cloudflare's engagement with trade associations, including building and crafting positioning and key initiatives.

Develop talking points, policy narratives and presentation materials for use at external events and meetings and for other communication purposes (company blog, position papers etc.).

Articulate Cloudflare's positioning to relevant policy makers and officials.

Work to build and maintain relationships with key US policy makers, and to find engagement opportunities with business, civil society entities, and other third party organisations.

Provide timely updates to colleagues from the Cloudflare Public Policy, Legal, Trust & Safety Teams and other internal stakeholders.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

BA with strong academic credentials required, JD or applicable graduate degree desirable

12+ years of experience working closely with US federal regulators and officials, as well trade associations and industry groups. Experience within a tech or telecoms company is preferred.

Deep understanding of US laws, regulations and policy developments important to Cloudflare as well as associated rule making and legislative processes.

Experience drafting or substantively reviewing proposed legislative text, regulatory comments, and formal policy submissions.

Strong network of US regulators, officials, peers, and industry stakeholders

Fluency in and proven passion for cutting edge technology.

Strong communications (written and oral) and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to articulate complex policy issues to executive audiences.

Curiosity and willingness to experiment with new technologies, ways of working, and policy approaches.

Management experience preferred.

Detail oriented, well organized and a sense of initiative

The ability to manage many issues and engage with multiple teams within Cloudflare
