Our internship programs offer real-world projects, hands-on experience, and opportunities to collaborate with passionate teams globally. As a Backend Engineering Intern, you'll design and implement backend components for the Engineering Portal, develop and maintain deployment and packaging workflows, and support and improve deployment processes for customer-hosted installations. You'll write integration-level and system-level tests to ensure reliability and quality, contribute to automation of build, release, and deployment processes, troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend services in customer deployment environments, and contribute to documentation and best practices for deployment and operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement backend components for the Engineering Portal
- Develop and maintain deployment and packaging workflows, focusing on customer private-cloud and on-premise environments
- Support and improve deployment processes for customer-hosted installations
- Write integration-level and system-level tests to ensure reliability and quality
- Contribute to automation of build, release, and deployment processes
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend services in customer deployment environments
- Contribute to documentation and best practices for deployment and operations
To succeed in this role, you'll need to be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, with experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Go, understanding of backend service development and RESTful APIs, familiarity with databases (relational like PostgreSQL or NoSQL like MongoDB), basic knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker), understanding of software testing concepts (integration and system testing), familiarity with Git and version control workflows, and strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
This is a part-time internship opportunity, working 20 hours per week, with a duration of 6 months. The internship is located in Ismaning, Germany, and you'll have the opportunity to work with a geographically distributed team.
