Technical Designer

Keywords Studios Asia is seeking an experienced Technical Designer for a six-month contract with possible extension. The successful candidate will work on an exciting, new, and unannounced AAA project based fully on-site at the Singapore Studio.

As a Technical Designer, you'll create and implement complex technical and systemic design elements in a game. Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, implementing, and iterating on complex and technically challenging gameplay systems and content
• Writing gameplay scripts to implement game content and prototype designs
• Maintaining technical design documentation for gameplay systems and content
• Collaborating with engineering, art, and other disciplines to produce implementation plans according to design specifications
• Deconstructing broad specifications into actionable tasks for designers, engineers, technical artists, and artists
• Driving and following up on the production of features, ensuring communication and collaboration across disciplines to meet deadlines
• Conducting regular playtesting sessions to gather user feedback and inform subsequent design iterations and refinements
• Polishing the gameplay experience for quality and accessibility
• Staying up-to-date with design principles and trends in the industry
• Sharing knowledge with peers on a regular basis

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience with Unreal, Unity, or proprietary engines
• At least one published AAA title in a proven technical design capacity
• Proficiency in gameplay and mission scripting tools and languages (e.g., C#, Lua, visual scripting)
• Effective aptitude in basic programming principles
• Confidence in technical ability to implement low-fidelity prototypes
• Effective technical communication skills in both written and verbal mediums
