Backend Software Engineer II (Node.js)

As a Software Engineer II, you will work with a team to build backend APIs to support teams within EAX and studio teams. You will collaborate across departments (Design, Engineering, QA, Project Management) and other internal customers to align and implement the right solutions. You will also be a regular consumer of data to analyse performance of our live service products and collaborate with our senior engineers to identify live service opportunities to create richer player experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Build testable modular backend components/features and debug live issues.
• Collaborate with other developers to promote the culture of performance, maintainability, quality and automation in the team.
• Collaborate across departments (Design, Engineering, QA, Project Management) and other internal customers to align and implement.
• Learn new technologies and apply new techniques to improve existing solutions.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in a technical role focused on development and operation of complex live services.
• Experience building, enhancing, maintaining backend APIs.
• Experience with GraphQL, NodeJS, Kubernetes, Docker and Databases.
• Experience with HTTP, HTTP caching, web servers, Linux and AWS.
• Familiarity using Java for backend server-side development.
• Supported and developed for a live service product.
• Experience in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab)
• Experience with on-call responsibilities, i.e., reacting to pages and evaluating live issues.

Bonus:

• Familiarity with Event-driven Systems.
• Familiarity working with a content management system such as Contentful.
