Description
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the development of the Passport team, responsible for building a centralized identity, verification, and trust-grant platform. You will expand the early team, define the architecture, and ship the first version of the platform that touches Claude.ai, our first-party APIs, and third-party platforms built on top of them.
Key responsibilities include establishing the Passport team as a high-performing contributing team to our wider model safety efforts, owning engineering execution end-to-end, partnering with safeguards, product, and design to shape the roadmap, and driving compliance and platform-readiness work customers and regulators require.
You will work directly with customers and the go-to-market team on verification and trust requirements, join key conversations, and turn what you learn into engineering priorities. You will also coordinate across the product teams that depend on Passport, making migrations and integrations land cleanly.
To succeed in this role, you should have experience taking a product or platform from 0→1, making early architectural calls, and shipping the first versions with limited precedent to lean on. You should also be a skilled engineering manager who treats management as a craft, clear feedback, strong 1:1s, and consistent investment in your team's growth.
Strong candidates may also have experience building customer verification or identity systems, designing centralized policy or trust systems, building trust & safety tooling, and owning compliance and regulatory work within an engineering org.
