Join our team as an Ambulatory and Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) in our new Ambulatory Surgery Center. As a key member of the Advocate Health Nursing Professional Governance community, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care through evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and compassionate care delivery in an ambulatory care setting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance care processes and support evidence-based practices.
- Utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care across the ambulatory surgical continuum.
- Partnering with patients and families to ensure effective communication, education, and engagement throughout the surgical experience.
- Monitoring patient conditions intra-operatively and adjusting care plans while collaborating with the surgical team to influence optimal outcomes.
- Upholding and promoting a strong culture of safety within the operating room and ASC environment.
- Continuously evaluating patient, team, and unit outcomes and initiating appropriate actions for improvement.
- Administering medications, treatments, and therapies safely in accordance with ASC protocols and clinical standards.
- Demonstrating effective communication, feedback delivery, and conflict resolution to support teamwork and appropriate delegation.
- Pursuing professional growth, completing required education, and maintaining all mandated certifications.
- Adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics and practicing ethical decision-making, respecting interdisciplinary roles and promoting unbiased, patient-centered care.
- Delegating appropriately to RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed assistive personnel such as nurse aides and credentialed medical assistants.
- Maintaining accurate, timely, and complete electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
- Floating to other ASC clinical areas (pre-op, PACU, procedure rooms) or designated outpatient departments as needed to meet patient care needs.
- Demonstrating competency in providing age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate care consistent with departmental standards and patient needs.
