We're currently looking for an accomplished, enthusiastic and self-motivated Environment Artist (Lighting Focus) to join our team working on an exciting, new and unannounced project.
As an Environment Artist (Lighting Focus) at Keywords Studios, you will create high-quality environment art with a strong emphasis on lighting, mood, and atmosphere. You will build, iterate, and optimise lighting setups that support gameplay, narrative, and artistic direction.
Responsibilities:
- Create high-quality environment art with a strong emphasis on lighting, mood, and atmosphere.
- Build, iterate, and optimise lighting setups that support gameplay, narrative, and artistic direction.
- Collaborate closely with art direction, level design, and tech art to ensure lighting enhances spatial readability and performance.
- Author and maintain lighting passes, post-processing profiles, and environment shaders/materials as needed.
- Troubleshoot lighting issues related to performance, consistency, or technical constraints across platforms.
- Contribute to visual benchmarks and help establish best practices for lighting workflows.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Environment or Lighting Artist on a shipped AAA or high-quality game project.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating lighting, composition, and environment art fundamentals.
- Proficiency with modern game engines (Unreal, Unity or proprietary engines).
- Solid understanding of lighting theory, color, exposure, and real-time rendering.
- Experience with PBR workflows and optimisation for real-time environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and iterate quickly based on feedback.
- Experience with lighting tools, profiling/debugging, or scripting for workflow automation.
