International Accounting Lead

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced International Accounting Lead to join our finance team at Stripe. As a key part of our controllership team in Dublin, you will help build technical accounting and financial reporting processes, work with business partners, financial partners, external stakeholders, and engineers.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Reporting

• Lead the end-to-end monthly close of US GAAP books, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
• Oversee preparation and submission of comprehensive regulatory and financial reporting.
• Lead financial statement preparation, audit support, and technical documentation for statutory audits.
• Monitor and adapt to changes in global accounting and tax regulations to ensure compliance.
• Support preparation of direct and indirect tax returns.

Leadership & Strategic Collaboration

• Mentor, guide, and manage the professional progression of a high-performing controllership team.
• Collaborate with Tax, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, Finance and Strategy, and Legal teams on strategic projects.
• Develop a deep understanding of the Company's transactions and contracts to advise cross-functional teams.
• Oversee and optimize relationships with finance outsourcing vendors and auditors.

Technical Accounting & Innovation

• Maintain fluency in US GAAP and IFRS/FRS102, researching complex issues and producing clear technical accounting memos.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement AI solutions to drive process improvements.

Requirements

• Professional certification: Active ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting or audit experience; Big 4, payments, financial services, or tech industry experience highly preferred.
• Demonstrated technical expertise and practical application of IFRS, FRS 102, and US GAAP.
• Proven experience managing large-scale statutory audits and overseeing tax filings.
• Strong proficiency with enterprise accounting systems (Oracle or similar) highly preferred.
• Demonstrated success in leading and delivering cross-functional initiatives.
• Proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to partner and communicate effectively across diverse internal teams.
