Description
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, improve, and maintain the core package set which supports software distribution throughout Anduril. This involves creating internal tooling, establishing standards, planning architectural changes, and supporting users of the package set. You will provide expertise for the usage of Nix at a large scale and assist in training other engineers. You must be able to operate autonomously with limited oversight in a complex environment, and have the ability to break down intricate problems into simple solutions.
You will maintain an internal package set to enable software distribution across the company for development, hosted services, and embedded devices. You will package open-source and proprietary software components using Nix. You will improve developer ergonomics by defining Nix usage standards, creating tooling support, and integrating with developer workflows. You will provide assistance, training, and mentorship to other team members.
To be successful in this role, you must have proficiency with Nix, Nixpkgs, NixOS, and functional programming generally. You must have a deep understanding of how build systems and packaging ecosystems work. You must be able to dive into large and complicated systems, and use Nix to improve them. Experience with one or more of the following languages: Rust, C++, Go, Python, Haskell is required. You must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active US Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience with managing cloud computing resources, experience with modern build and deployment tooling, and continuous integration. You should also have experience designing complex software systems, and iterating upon designs via a technical design review process. Familiarity with industry standard monitoring, logging, and data management tools and best practices is also preferred. A bias towards rapid delivery and iteration is essential.
This is a highly competitive role with a salary range of $191,000 to $253,000 USD.
