About the Role
This role provides regional and asset-level expertise in Measurement and Analyser Systems across Bp's upstream production operations. It ensures accurate and defensible measurement, regulatory and commercial compliance, and improved asset performance through strong technical capability and effective data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Regional and Asset Measurement Leadership
- Provide Measurement and Analyser Systems engineering expertise.
- Lead regional and asset level measurement and analyser system performance and validation activities.
- Investigate and resolve mismeasurement and misallocation issues.
- Support preparation and assurance of monthly production measurement reports.
Measurement Assurance and System Reliability
- Maintain and update Equipment Maintenance Strategies based on performance data and engineering insight.
- Provide technical input to the Management of Change processes, compose reviews, procurement activities, projects, and life-cycle operability assessments.
- Support hazard identification and risk assessments including HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID, bowties and related processes.
- Ensure cybersecurity controls are applied and maintained for measurement and analyser systems.
- Oversee work performed by subcontract engineering support where relevant.
- Provide support and technical guidance to Bp and contract technicians.
Measurement Performance and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and commercial measurement requirements.
- Conduct measurement uncertainty analysis, mass balance calculations, and support production allocation.
- Apply and uphold relevant industry and internal measurement standards.
Collaboration and Subject Area Development
- Apply engineering principles that prioritise safety, business value, and efficient solutions.
- Demonstrate leadership by collaborating with peers, highlighting emerging risks to management, and helping set priorities for measurement-related work.
- Contribute to the development of measurement discipline capability through learning, knowledge sharing, and participation in communities of practice.
- Support mentoring and development of junior engineers.
- Demonstrate Bp values and support a diverse and inclusive culture.
Requirements
- Degree in engineering or a relevant scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in measurement engineering or measurement science.
- Strong capability in statistical tools for estimating measurement uncertainty.
- Experience supporting operating assets with data validation and mismeasurement resolution.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of data management principles.
Desirable Experience
- Upstream production measurement experience (preferred but not essential).
- Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer status.
