Engineering Manager, Payments

Job Overview

As the Engineering Manager for Payments at Stripe, you will play a crucial role in expanding the reach of Stripe's global payments network. You will make strategic, product, and technical decisions for card payments, ensuring a best-in-class experience for users in the Asia Pacific, Europe, and Middle East regions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Stripe leaders to develop the company's card payments strategy
• Mentor and develop engineers on the team to advance their careers
• Foster a high level of technical productivity, reliability, and simplicity within the engineering team
• Implement processes to enable the team to work efficiently and interface effectively with the rest of Stripe
• Participate in engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe's engineering management team
• Assist in recruiting top engineering talent alongside Stripe's recruiting team

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in an engineering management role
• Minimum 8+ years of full-time software development experience
• Proven track record of successfully hiring, developing, and mentoring engineers
• Ability to lead by example in fast-paced environments
• Commitment to high operational rigor with production systems
• Experience building scalable software solutions
• Comfortable working in collaborative, cross-functional, and cross-timezone environments

• Experience with payments-related products
• Background working in global and cross-regional environments
• Familiarity with AI tools to enhance team execution and quality
• Experience building out new teams
• Developing product platforms for other product teams
• Proven track record of collaborating with partners across multiple regions and time zones
