Description
Anduril Industries is seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist to join their team in Costa Mesa, California. This role involves monitoring, inspecting, and proposing measures to correct or improve final products to meet established quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the site Materials Review Board (MRB) process
- Collaborate with the manufacturing process to resolve nonconforming materials
- Review and provide feedback on Manufacturing Work Instructions
- Provide clarification or go/no-go decisions to inspectors
- Lead containment of nonconforming items and verify through inspection
- Assist in root cause analysis and manage internal triage with engineering teams
- Ensure accurate data collection and entry for the MRB process
- Communicate process performance and quality issues to key stakeholders
- Track and report MRB metrics weekly
- Execute vendor return material authorization (RMA) with Warehouse and Buyers
- Manage quality containment for material, tooling, and inspection equipment
- Create inspection plans for incoming material, in-process inspection, and end-of-line inspection
- Train technicians and inspectors on inspection plans and data capture
- Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures
- Review and propose continuous improvement projects
- Perform internal audits on processes and procedures
- Conduct deep dives into data and traceability investigations
- Stay current with new inspection technologies and techniques
Requirements:
- Associate degree or equivalent in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or a quality/engineering related role
- Experience in a manufacturing environment supporting HW development and quality management
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection data management software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Experience with calibrated equipment and reading engineering drawings
- Analyze inspection results and provide feedback to production, manufacturing engineering, and quality engineering departments
- Experience using investigative equipment
- Experience in a facility with AS9100, ISO9001, IATF 16949 or similar QMS standard
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical or Associate's degree in related quality/mechanical/aerospace engineering field
- Direct experience conducting First Article Inspection and Report
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate, or equivalent
- Existing work experience in a low-rate production manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing as per Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with inspection of Electrical and Electronic Components
- Experience with Manufacturing processes and their related systems
- Experience with auditing processes and procedures
- Detail-oriented self-starter with minimal oversight
