Principal Sourcing Engineer - Strategic Sourcing Team

Microsoft is seeking a Principal Sourcing Engineer to join the Strategic Sourcing team, responsible for driving the Silicon strategy and performance to achieve financial and business targets for Xbox and Surface Hardware.

The successful candidate will own the supply chain and sourcing activities for Microsoft Devices Chipset, negotiate commercial agreements, optimize collaboration between teams, and develop long-term strategies to grow robust partnerships.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing supply chain and sourcing activities for Microsoft Devices Chipset
• Negotiating commercial agreements and costs
• Optimizing collaboration between teams
• Developing long-term strategies to grow robust partnerships
• Engaging with cross-functional leadership to determine design solutions and supply bases
• Managing contracting activities with Legal
• Analyzing the overall supply chain to identify risks and drive resolutions
• Providing thought leadership and managing strategic initiatives
• Managing supplier relationships and driving performance improvements

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, and 8+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or sales-related roles
• Or a Master's degree in a related field and 6+ years of experience
• Or equivalent experience

Preferred qualifications include:

• A Doctorate in a related field and 5+ years of experience
• Or a Master's degree and 8+ years of experience
• Or a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience
• 6+ years of industry experience in consumer electronics, semiconductor, and silicon space
• Experience in Chipset or Wireless sourcing or sales
• Experience in negotiating complex contracts and deals
• Proficient storytelling and influencing skills

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 – $274,800 per year.
