Description
We're seeking an Accounting Intern to join our Statutory Reporting team for our Summer Intern Program. As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to work with the Statutory Reporting team, as well as work with multiple cross-functional partners such as GL accounting, tax, and legal.
The Statutory Reporting team works with these cross-functional teams to prepare financial statements for Airbnb entities outside of the United States. This team also works with auditors to ensure that Airbnb's financial information being reported are accurate, complete, and follows all the rules and regulations in different countries.
As an audit detective, you'll support multiple statutory audits by gathering key supporting documents (bank statements, GL listings, invoices, etc.) in response to auditor inquiries. You'll also tackle real-world surveys, analyze and test financial data, investigate unrecorded liabilities, and gain hands-on experience with financial statements and journal entries.
This opportunity is for first-year, Masters in Accounting students (preferred) and Masters in Finance students with the following background:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including advanced knowledge of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly articulate thoughts, insights, and problem-solving approaches
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision in work
- Strong organizational skills and excellent time management, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Passion for the Airbnb mission and product; experience with the platform is a plus!
Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT is accepted).
Preferred but not expected:
- Previous internship experience or full-time experience in accounting or auditing
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like Oracle and NetSuite (preferred)
