Waste Recycling Officer

We're seeking a proactive and reliable Waste Recycling Officer to support waste and recycling operations at Edinburgh Airport. This hands-on role plays a key part in improving recycling efficiency, reducing contamination, and supporting sustainable waste management across the site.

Responsibilities:

• Collect and transport waste from landside holding areas to the main waste yard
• Sort waste streams to maximise recycling levels and minimise contamination
• Operate waste compactors and baler machinery to produce high-quality bales (full training provided)
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation across waste holding areas and the waste yard
• Complete daily equipment and operational checks
• Load and unload service vehicles safely and efficiently
• Support airport staff with guidance on correct waste segregation and recycling practices
• Carry out additional duties as required, including waste audits, confiscated waste disposal, and replacing signage or container labels

Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
• Good communication skills and ability to support site staff with correct waste segregation practices
• Comfortable with manual handling duties
• Eligible to work in the United Kingdom
• Available to work the 3:00pm–12:00am shift
• Experience supporting site staff with correct waste segregation practices would be advantageous
