Receiving Associate - Stephen A. Schwarzman Building (Part-Time Seasonal)

The Library Shop at the New York Public Library is seeking a Seasonal Part-Time Receiving Associate to assist in receiving operations.

The position is temporary through January 8th, 2027, and involves working 21 hours, 3 days a week. The Receiving Associate will report to the Associate Manager, Receiving, and responsibilities include:

• Checking in deliveries against packing slips and purchase orders, reporting any discrepancies
• Pricing and occasionally packaging merchandise
• Distributing merchandise to shop and storage areas
• Maintaining all stock areas so merchandise is easily found and identifiable
• Learning the Shop's POS and inventory system and using it for daily tasks with minimum supervision
• Performing related duties as required

The ideal candidate will have:

• High School Diploma minimum
• 1-year Receiving experience
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to perform detailed and repetitive work accurately and neatly
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Demonstrated reliability and flexibility
• Demonstrated computer and related technology skills
• Experience working in a retail environment preferred

The physical demands of the job include lifting up to 35 lbs. and remaining stationary for long periods of time, as well as moving and transporting heavy objects on a daily basis.
