Description

The Air Dominance and Strike Mechanical Engineering Team is responsible for designing and integrating advanced hardware for missile platforms. As a Mechanical Engineer on this team, you will own the full development lifecycle, from concept generation to integration and flight test, ensuring high-performance, resilient, and scalable mechanical systems that meet the demands of complex, contested environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning designs from concept generation to real-world use, including avionics, mechanisms, thermal systems, fuel systems, and other general design tasks as required.
  • Developing and integrating hardware on unmanned air vehicles.
  • Using first principles physics as a basis for every decision.
  • Leading design reviews, running analysis, visiting vendors, defining and executing hardware test plans.
  • Building prototypes, analysing failures, and transitioning successful projects into production.
  • Supporting critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
  • Travelling to test sites as needed.
  • Supporting the design and analysis of composite structures, including the development of tooling essential for high-volume production.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design or engineering.
  • Experience designing mechanical parts (CAD - Siemens NX preferred).
  • Understanding of scalable manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection moulding, etc).
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes for composites, metal components, and plastics.
  • Background in first principles physics as a basis for every decision.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Broad experience working across multiple mechanical engineering domains (e.g., mechanisms, thermal systems, avionics, fuel systems).
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design or engineering.
  • Ability to adapt designs from metal components to composites, with a basic understanding of material trade-offs.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques for composites and plastics.
  • Hands-on experience with composites and tool design, including familiarity with out-of-autoclave fabrication methods.
  • Experience in thermal & structural analysis.

This role offers a highly competitive salary range of $129,000-$171,000 USD, plus highly competitive equity grants and top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, income protection, generous time off, family planning & parenting support, mental health resources, professional development, commuter benefits, relocation assistance, and a retirement savings plan.
