Machine Learning Engineer

The Music Promotion team at Spotify is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to develop systems that better understand the performance of promotions, providing actionable insights for creators to build their promotion strategies.

As an ML Engineer, you will help execute strategies for understanding factors affecting promoted track performance worldwide. You will build data-driven solutions and online/offline strategies to iterate and evaluate model approaches using a growing list of datasets, features, and ML infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to designing, building, evaluating, shipping, and refining systems that improve Spotify's promotional performance with hands-on ML development.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize machine learning models for production use cases, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and meet success criteria.
• Influence technical design, architecture, and infrastructure decisions to support new machine learning architectures.
• Work with Data and ML Engineers to transition machine learning models from research to production.
• Implement and monitor model success metrics, diagnose issues, and participate in an on-call schedule to maintain production stability.

Requirements

• Experience implementing ML systems at scale in languages like Java, Scala, Python, and familiarity with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Understanding of bringing machine learning models from research to production and working with cutting-edge architectures.
• Collaborative mindset with experience working with research scientists, machine learning engineers, and data engineers.
• Experience optimizing machine learning models for production use cases.
• Familiarity with data pipeline tools like Apache Beam, Scio, and cloud platforms like GCP.
• Exposure to causal ML models, including counterfactuals.
• Familiarity with creating model success metric dashboards and diagnosing production issues.

Location and Benefits

• Flexible work location within the EST time zone.
• Salary range: $170,000 - $212,000 plus equity.
