Staff Software Engineer - UI Platform (Toronto)

At Okta, we're building a world where anyone can safely use any technology. As a Staff Software Engineer on our UI Platform team, you'll define the forward-looking vision for Okta's UI platform infrastructure. You'll work with a globally distributed engineering team to build frameworks and systems that empower feature teams to deliver world-ready software.

Responsibilities:

• Define, own, and drive the architectural vision and technical roadmap for a major UI platform subsystem
• Serve as the definitive design reviewer for high-impact proposals and cross-team interface specifications
• Drive cross-functional alignment and resolve technical ambiguity for initiatives spanning multiple product teams
• Shape a culture of continuous learning by proactively sharing knowledge and mentoring Senior Engineers
• Empower developers by building reusable components and robust design patterns
• Be a hands-on contributor, driving the implementation and ensuring technical quality of complex platform components

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Expertise in software architecture and implementation with a strong development background in languages like Java, Python, or C++
• Strong grasp of software engineering designs, principles, and practices with a focus on building scalable and maintainable systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to distill complex concepts into simple narratives

Nice to have:

• Experience defining and implementing internationalization and localization strategies for large-scale enterprise applications
• Deep knowledge of Unicode, ISO standards, and localization frameworks
• Familiarity with globalization testing processes
• Experience being part of a platform team treating developers as customers

We offer:

• Annual base salary range: $160,000-$200,000 CAD
