Boiler Operator - Fundamentally Trained

We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible Boiler Operator to learn and understand how to operate our industrial steam boilers within Lush Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and adjust industrial steam boilers in the manufacturing plant.
• Maintain a safe operating environment by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure efficient, effective, and safe boiler operation.
• Perform routine daily inspections, including testing of boiler function and chemical feed water treatment.
• Record daily operations logs and report any anomalies in boiler function to the Maintenance team and Management.
• Respond promptly to emergencies or issues involving boiler operation.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance team and Management to ensure smooth operations across the boiler plant.
• Determine if risks from the boiler are at acceptable levels or if additional measures are required.
• Work at heights and have flexibility to work/cover alternative shifts.
• Assist with DAF operator duties when not carrying out boiler jobs.

DAF Operator Responsibilities (as and when required)

• Check and record chemical levels.
• Check tank pH and temperature.
• Check pumps, air and chemical feed lines.
• Check pH probe cleanliness and calibration.
• Check tank levels and sludge blanket.
• Check weir clarity and end of treatment water sample.

Requirements

• Prior experience or knowledge of steam boilers is an advantage.
• Attend and pass D6 - Steam Boiler Operation Fundamentals - City & Guilds Accredited Course.
• Proactive and highly motivated.
• Ability to learn and develop new skills.
• Excellent record-keeping skills.
• Great communication skills, written and verbal.
• Initiative to carry out daily tasks and manage own workload.
• Meticulous, competent, and responsible.
• Flexibility required to cover all shifts.
