How does Honda define Co-op versus Internship?
At Honda, we use the terms co-op and internship interchangeably—and we offer both during the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
- Co-op (Cooperative Education)
Usually happens during the Fall or Spring, when classes are in session. Some schools may even offer course credit for completing a co-op—check with your academic advisor or career services to learn more.
- Internship
Typically takes place in the Summer, when most students are on break. It’s a great way to gain experience without interrupting your academic schedule.
The best part..
No matter the term, every position in our program is paid. That means you’ll earn while you learn—whether you’re building prototypes, crunching data, or collaborating on real-world projects.
Are there rotational programs available for entry-level candidates?
Yes. The rotational programs that we offer are for recent graduates that are looking for full-time roles. Refer to the Rotational program details at the top of this page for more information.
What is it like to work at Honda as a co-op or intern?
At Honda, co-ops and interns don’t just observe—they contribute.
You’ll work on hands-on projects that make a real impact. Many of our co-ops have helped develop efficiencies that saved the company thousands of dollars. You’ll be trusted to own your work, empowered to solve problems, and treated like a full member of the team.
Beyond the work itself, you'll grow through:
- Professional development events
- Networking opportunities
- Relationship-building across departments
Our culture is built on respect, collaboration, and innovation, and our co-ops often tell us they feel supported, challenged, and inspired throughout their term.
Where are your job opportunities located?
Honda offers early career opportunities across several U.S. states, including Alabama, California, Georgia, and more.
