About this role

We are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join the Chief Data Office. This is a unique opportunity to be the first data engineer on the team, responsible for establishing the infrastructure and best practices for onboarding and maintaining data, as well as delivering insights to our stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems to support data integration and analytics.
  • Establish best practices for data management, including data quality, data governance, and data security.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
  • Partner with adjacent data engineering teams to leverage and enhance existing data infrastructure.
  • Implement and optimize data storage solutions to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data engineering processes and systems.
  • Lead and mentor junior data engineers and analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering concepts, including ETL processes, data warehousing, and data modelling.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, and Java.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with batch processing and API integration.
  • Experience or eagerness to learn how to maintain and serve data for generative AI applications.
  • Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and vector databases.
