Staff Software Quality Engineer

As a Staff Software Quality Engineer in the Alluxio QA team, you will be responsible for delivering the Alluxio project as a product to users.

You’ll be involved from the beginning to the end of the development process, from understanding the motivations behind the issues to solve with the product team, designing and implementing solutions with other engineers, and supporting the features and tools after they are deployed.

The ability to learn and execute independently while operating in cloud-based environments is a must to keep up with the fast-paced growth.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for the quality organization.
• Ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of Alluxio’s critical use cases that involve integrations with numerous storage systems and compute frameworks.
• Drive the development of end-to-end integration tests, automation frameworks, and tools to have robust automated testing pipelines for Alluxio.
• Design and implement comprehensive testing frameworks while taking on a technical leadership role, improving productivity of development/QE teams and bringing standardization to processes and practices.
• Author and enhance test plans based on feature requirements and specifications, as well as technical discussions and deep dives with engineers.
• Partner with customer-facing people to better understand how customers interface and use the product and to investigate, troubleshoot, and identify fixes for customer-facing issues.

Essential Requirements:

• BS or Master degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience in Golang, Python, and/or Java, or similar languages.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in Quality Engineering, specifically Automation Testing, Test Framework development as a Testing Lead.
• Experience delivering quality software in a large distributed system with emphasis on functional and performance automation, workloads, and testing.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of standard quality best practices, techniques, and methodologies to drive continuous quality improvements.
• Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment systems like Jenkins.
• Experience working with software development on Linux systems.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining Test Automation Frameworks.
• High proficiency coding in Golang, Python, and/or Java preferred.
• Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
• Experience contributing to and/or maintaining an open-source project.
• Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative programming environment.
