Mechanical Engineer (Data Center Infrastructure)

As a member of the facility operations team at xAI, you will design, build, and activate technically advanced facilities and data centers.

You will be the subject matter expert on HVAC, piping, and other critical fluid systems, utilizing your knowledge to develop novel solutions.

The position is based in Memphis, TN.

Responsibilities:

• Own and be the subject matter expert on fluid/HVAC components across the site.
• Perform CAD modeling and design of these systems.
• Conduct fluid analyses for pressure balance, component design allowable, and consumables determination.
• Own maintenance and reliability of critical infrastructure assets across campus.
• Commission systems, validate nameplate performance, and implement predictive maintenance protocols.
• Support equipment selection, sizing, and procurement.
• Drive root-cause investigations for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of professional experience with fluids components like valves, pumps, COPVs, compressors, heat exchangers, pressure transducers, or temperature sensors.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Hands-on experience with fluid handling systems.
• Experience with data acquisition equipment and test instrumentation.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and air ducting.
• Experience with NX or other CAD packages and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Structural analysis methods experience.
• Experience with pressurized structures and/or lightweight aerospace structures.
• Ability to work independently.
