The Mortgage Specialist is actively involved in each key aspect of the loan process and is responsible for ensuring a shortened cycle time by providing exceptional service to third parties and internal departments from Application through Funding.

This individual is proficient in collecting and analysing a broad range of credit, collateral and compliance documents related to the mortgage process, ensuring loan quality and integrity. They exhibit well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with underwriting, mortgage experience associates, sales representatives, third-party vendors and other parties linked to the mortgage transaction.

The Mortgage Specialist evaluates credit worthiness by completing a thorough review and evaluation of third-party mortgage documentation to assess accuracy and credit risk. They analyse international credit reports, foreign verification of employment and perform project reviews to support a credit risk decision. They also analyse collateral documentation to ensure collateral supports HSBC's overall risk.

Key responsibilities includecarousel management, taking ownership of loan processes, risk decisions and accountability for meeting or exceeding service level agreements with a proactive approach toward exceeding customer expectations. They achieve published standards and other key performance indicators (attendance, revenue, retention, service levels, quality, operational risk, etc.).

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in business, accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience. They will have knowledge of mortgage products, documents, investor and compliance requirements. Good banking experience, mortgage business, mortgage systems-related experience or equivalent is also required.

The Mortgage Specialist will have good customer service, organisational and communication (written/oral) skills. They will be able to make sound decisions based on information provided and defined policies. They will also be able to effectively multi-task and manage numerous duties/deadlines simultaneously, while maintaining high quality.
