Engineering Manager, Passport

Job Overview

As an Engineering Manager for the Passport team at Anthropic, you will play a crucial role in developing a centralized identity, verification, and trust-grant platform. This platform will be integral to Anthropic's products, including Claude.ai, APIs, and third-party platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the Passport team, focusing on creating a high-performing team that contributes to model safety efforts.
• Define the architecture and deliver the first version of the platform, ensuring it meets the needs of various stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multiple teams, including safeguards, product, and design, to integrate automated decisions and human review processes.
• Work closely with customers and the go-to-market team to understand verification and trust requirements.
• Ensure compliance and platform readiness for regulatory requirements.
• Manage and coordinate across product teams that depend on Passport.
• Recruit, onboard, and develop strong engineers, fostering a healthy and high-performing team.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Proven experience in taking a product or platform from 0 to 1.
• Skilled engineering management with a focus on clear feedback and team growth.
• Experience leading teams building critical systems.
• Comfortable working with customers and integrating their feedback.

Nice to Have

• Experience with customer verification or identity systems.
• Background in designing centralized policy or trust systems.
• Experience with trust & safety tooling and platform-side integration of human review.
• Familiarity with multi-tenant platforms and user-facing portals for account verification.

Logistics

• Annual salary: $405,000 - $485,000 USD.
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Location-based hybrid policy: 25% office time.
• Visa sponsorship available.
