Overview

The Windows Cloud Experiences (WCX) team at Microsoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). WCX is a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Desktop as a Service (DaaS) and has become a billion-dollar business. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help secure user connections to Windows PCs in the cloud using Remote Desktop Protocol and establish next-level security against cyber threats.

Responsibilities

  • Independently use artificial intelligence (AI) tools and practices across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to improve processes and practices.
  • Lead by example to produce extensible, maintainable, well-tested, secure, and performant code that adheres to design specifications.
  • Review product code and test code to ensure it meets team standards and contains correct test coverage.
  • Use debugging tools, tests, logs, telemetry, and other methods to proactively verify assumptions while developing code.
  • Lead discussions for and own the architecture of products/solutions, creating proposals for architecture by testing design hypotheses.
  • Develop design documents that support user stories and other product requirements.
  • Drive efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility.
  • Act as a designated responsible individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C or C++.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C or C++.
  • Experience in modern security technologies such as OpenSSL, NCrypt, OpenID, Entra, WebAuth, and Yubikey.
  • Experience in cyber security, responsible disclosure practices, and evaluating and mitigating risks.
  • Experience in Windows Internals and distributed systems.

Salary Information

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year.
