Public Policy Lead, U.S. States

As a Public Policy Lead, you will support Discord's work by building trust and finding common ground with policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders with a focus on the U.S. States. You will introduce Discord to policymakers and other stakeholders, educate decision-makers on our mission, products, and investments in privacy and safety, and advocate for Discord's position on key legislative and regulatory initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Introducing Discord to policymakers and other stakeholders
• Educating decision-makers on our mission, products, and investments in privacy and safety
• Advocating for Discord's position on key legislative and regulatory initiatives
• Engaging in public policy coalitions with peer companies and civil society organizations
• Monitoring and analyzing policy developments in the U.S. States
• Developing public policy materials such as position papers, talking points, presentations, and consultation responses

Requirements include:

• 5+ years of experience in government, public policy advocacy, and/or government relations
• Deep insight on the policymaking process in the U.S. States
• Ability to execute a multi-year strategic advocacy and public affairs program
• Work experience on technology policy initiatives such as online safety, privacy, or content moderation
• Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical audiences
• Success building trust and consensus across stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities
• Willingness to travel as necessary within the U.S.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000 to $175,500 + equity + benefits.
