We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Technical Writer focused on technical documentation and engineering enablement for our robotics and autonomy platforms. This role will help improve the quality, consistency, and scalability of technical documentation across our Sentry hardware platform and top-level product configurations.
The position will work closely with engineering, product, systems, and operations teams to reduce documentation debt and improve how internal and external users integrate, operate, and support our systems. This role is primarily focused on improving and maintaining core technical documentation standards across the Sentry Robotics platform, with an emphasis on scalable, operationally usable, and increasingly standardized engineering documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, organizing, and maintaining key technical documentation across product lines, including interface control documents, user manuals, data sheets, and specification sheets.
- Partnering with engineering teams to ensure documentation remains technically accurate, up to date, and aligned with current system configurations.
- Establishing consistent documentation standards, templates, and organizational structures across Confluence and SharePoint environments.
- Supporting and building upon existing documentation strategies and templates across the engineering organization.
- Improving documentation accessibility and organization for both internal teams and external users/customers.
- Working across hardware and software teams to gather technical information and translate it into clear, usable documentation.
- Identifying and reducing documentation gaps and technical debt across major systems, LRUs, and platform configurations.
Required qualifications include experience creating or managing technical documentation for hardware and/or software systems, strong written communication and organizational skills, ability to understand and communicate technical concepts clearly, experience working cross-functionally with engineering teams, familiarity with Confluence, SharePoint, JIRA, or similar documentation tools, and eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience in robotics, autonomy, aerospace, defense, or complex technical systems, familiarity with systems engineering documentation practices, experience creating ICDs, user manuals, data sheets, or specification documentation, experience supporting hardware product development environments, familiarity with defense or government technical documentation standards and processes, experience working with MIL-STD, DoD, or regulated technical documentation requirements, and ability to interpret and apply technical documentation standards within engineering and product development workflows.
