Description

This Environmental Specialist/Analyst role supports Georgia Power's business units by providing consultation, permitting, coordination, and support for construction, operations, and maintenance activities that may impact cultural resources.

The successful candidate will investigate resources and needs, develop company strategy, negotiate solutions, draft and implement agreements, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting due diligence investigations and project planning
  • Performing archival research and determining the need for cultural resource surveys
  • Overseeing archaeological and historic investigations to support project feasibility studies
  • Assessing permitting requirements for various regulations
  • Developing compliant and cost-effective avoidance and mitigation strategies
  • Directing and coordinating consultation with state and federal agencies, tribes, and stakeholders
  • Reviewing and selecting cultural resource consultants
  • Preparing and reviewing reports
  • Managing and tracking numerous projects

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An advanced degree in history, archeology, anthropology, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience in leading cultural resources surveys and investigations
  • Experience with governing regulations and agencies
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

This position requires a valid driver's license and at least one year of verifiable driving experience.
