Description
The Strategic Purchaser plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of procurement activities for complex products and/or multi-category projects. As the main point of contact between the purchasing department and project teams, they ensure alignment of procurement activities with project objectives.
Key responsibilities include defining and managing specific procurement strategies for products/projects, coordinating the procurement of critical components and services for complex products and/or multi-category projects, collaborating closely with project management and operations/production functions to achieve specific project objectives, and conducting negotiations for specific project contracts.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in economics or technology, at least 3 years of experience in strategic purchasing, preferably in industrial or project-oriented contexts, and experience in managing procurements for complex products and/or multi-category projects. They should also have experience in international organisational contexts and multicultural project teams, be able to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in deadline-driven environments, and possess advanced negotiation skills with suppliers, contract management, and risk assessment.
Preferred skills include knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and procurement software, excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, and certification in project management (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2).
