Description
The GA/ARC Senior Analyst will play a critical role in supporting retail accounting operations for bp's Americas business, reporting to the Team Lead. The role requires strong subject matter expertise in retail accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, controls, and issue resolution, with the ability to manage complex accounting scenarios independently and provide guidance to analysts within the team.
Key responsibilities include acting as a subject matter expert for M&C Americas Retail accounting processes, reviewing and analyzing high-volume, high-complexity retail accounting entries, performing detailed balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field, and relevant experience in retail accounting, financial control, record-to-report, or shared services finance operations. They will also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret large data sets, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable insights.
In addition, the candidate will have hands-on experience in identifying, investigating, and resolving accounting exceptions, reconciling items, and process issues independently, and prior experience working in a subject matter expert capacity or in a role involving review, guidance, or mentoring of junior team members.
The role requires advanced proficiency in Excel and comfort working with reporting, visualization, and automation tools to improve process outcomes, as well as strong understanding of internal controls, compliance, audit readiness, and risk mitigation within finance operations.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently, handle deadlines, and maintain high accuracy in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment, and will have a continuous improvement perspective with demonstrated ability to support transformation, standardization, and digital adoption initiatives.
