We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Marketplaces Data and AI team. As an Engineering Manager, you will own two closely connected areas: Entity Data Foundation and Trip Intelligence. You will lead the engineering execution that makes Entity Data Foundation real, partnering with data-producing teams across the company to onboard their entities to the shared semantic model, driving the attribute serving platform that delivers over 1,700 quality and behavioral signals at production scale, and maintaining the health and governance contracts that give consumers confidence in the data they build on. You will also define and build Trip Intelligence, owning the trip entity schema from first principles, surfacing and resolving the competing representations currently scattered across reservations, messaging, customer support, and trust systems, and driving the real-time trip intelligence layer that aggregates signals across the trip lifecycle into a structured, queryable, near-real-time view.
A typical day for this role will involve driving entity onboarding with producer teams across the company, leading technical design on the trip entity, partnering with compute and data infrastructure teams to drive the state-of-the-art for real-time data processing at Airbnb, and managing and developing a team of ~7 engineers. You will also represent entity platform work in executive-level program reviews.
We are looking for someone with 9+ years of industry experience, including 3-5+ years in engineering management, a background in data engineering, platform engineering, or data infrastructure, and hands-on fluency with distributed data systems. You should be comfortable with greenfield work, have a strong instinct for what belongs in shared infrastructure versus what stays in a product team, and be a clear communicator able to represent technical decisions to senior leadership.
