Engineering Manager, Continuous Deployment and Change Safety

We're looking for an engineering manager to lead the Safe Change team, building continuous-deployment and feature-flagging systems that make changes safe and reliable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers building Anthropic's continuous-deployment, configuration, and feature-flagging platforms
• Set technical direction for safe deployment of code, infrastructure, and configuration
• Partner with product, inference, security, and infrastructure teams to migrate services onto the paved path
• Drive the roadmap for progressive rollouts, health-check automation, and expansion to new deployment surfaces
• Define and track metrics for deployment safety and speed
• Create clarity for the team and stakeholders in an ambiguous environment
• Take an inclusive approach to hiring, coaching, and career development
• Represent the team across the engineering organization

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience managing and growing a team of software engineers
• Hands-on software engineering background as an individual contributor
• Experience building or operating backend, distributed, or infrastructure systems
• Working knowledge of modern deployment and cloud-native tooling
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management experience
• Experience owning continuous delivery, release engineering, or deployment-safety systems
• Familiarity with progressive delivery techniques
• Experience with feature flagging or experimentation platforms
• Background in observability, health checking, or incident response
• Track record of building a culture of belonging and engineering excellence

The annual compensation range for this role is $405,000-$485,000 USD.
