Inventory Specialist

We are seeking an Inventory Specialist to join our team at American Honda Motor Company in Troy, Ohio. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining targeted inventory levels by forecasting short and long-term requirements for replacement parts.

Job Purpose The Inventory Specialist will review departmental reports and downloads to ensure proper forecasts and orders are maintained in the system. They will provide order projections and issue purchase orders to suppliers. The role also involves special projects related to forecasting, order projection, inventory levels, and departmental objectives.

Key Accountabilities

• Prepare order projections and forecasts for locally procured replacement parts to ensure optimal inventory levels.
• Complete and provide order projections to suppliers according to schedule.
• Maintain forecasts within set variance objectives.
• Work on projects to support department objectives as assigned.
• Collaborate with other departments to achieve set customer service levels for managed parts.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in business, economics, mathematics, information systems, or equivalent work-related experience.
• 4-6 years of experience in information systems, inventory control, demand forecasting, purchasing, procurement, or supplier performance.
• Strong math, statistical, inventory, and forecasting skills and knowledge.
• Data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Computer skills including MS Office.
• Data mining software knowledge is preferred.
• Communication, planning, and organization skills.
