As a Software Engineer II - Full Stack for Gameplay Services, you will work on providing systems and tooling enabling game teams to leverage our matchmaking system, integrated in EA's biggest titles and enjoyed by millions of players worldwide.
Our platform powers online features for EA's games, serving millions of users each day. We live, breathe, and dream about how we can make every player's multiplayer experience memorable. We develop services and SDKs in collaboration with EA's game studios for matchmaking, stats and leaderboards, achievements, game replays, VOIP, and game networking.
Your focus will be on providing systems and tooling enabling game teams to leverage our matchmaking system. You will collaborate closely with your team and partner studios to maintain, enhance, and extend our core services.
Responsibilities:
- Design brand new services covering all aspects from storage to application logic to management console
- Enhance and add features to existing systems
- Communicate with engineers from across the company to deliver the next generation of online features for both established and not-yet-released games
- Be a part of the full product cycle for our products, from design and testing to deployment and supporting our LIVE environments and our game team customers
- Maintain a suite of automated tests that validate the correctness of backend services
- Advocate for best practices within the engineering team
- Work with product managers to improve new features to support EA's business
Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- 2+ years professional programming experience
- Experience with various programming languages and frameworks (React, Typescript, NodeJS, Golang)
- Deep understanding of HTML, CSS and DOM
- Experience with cloud computing products such as AWS EC2, ElastiCache, and ELB
- Experience with technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Experience with relational or NoSQL database
- Experience with all phases of product development lifecycle, including requirement definition, development, test, and product release
- Adept at solving complex technical problems
- Strong sense of collaboration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Motivated self-starter and able to operate with autonomy
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with Jenkins and Groovy
- Experience with Ansible
- Knowledge of Google gRPC and protobuf
- Experience with high traffic services and highly scalable, distributed systems
- Knowledge of scalable data storage and processing technologies such as Cassandra, Apache Spark, and AWS S3
- Experience with stress testing plus performance tuning and optimization
- Experience working within the games industries
