Join our Simulation Platform team as a Senior Software Engineer and contribute to the development of our high-fidelity, multi-domain military mission simulator. This is a complex system that requires expertise in C++20, systems programming, and software engineering. You will work on the core architecture and infrastructure of the simulator, designing and implementing custom Entity-Component-System architecture, plugin and SDK development, integration architecture, and supporting domain experts in integrating new and enhancing existing capability models.
As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for keeping the simulation loop fast enough for real-time and faster-than-real-time execution with hundreds of concurrent entities, reasoning about memory layout, cache behavior, and contention as entity counts grow. You will also maintain a versioned C ABI, enabling external teams to extend the simulator, and integrate gRPC services, DIS protocol interoperability, networking messaging, and file recording for playback.
To be successful in this role, you should have 3 years of professional experience with C++20 and strong C++ skills, comfort with templates, move semantics, smart pointers, and design decisions that show up in framework code. You should also have solid understanding of systems programming fundamentals, comfort with linear algebra and applied math, and familiarity with Linux-based C++ development toolchains.
In addition to technical skills, you will need to have clear technical communication and ability to work in a large, shared codebase with architectural decision-making that impacts a growing team. Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance is also required.
