The Okta Device Access Team ---------------------------- The Okta Device Access team is at the core of Okta's mission. As the Senior Manager in this group, you will own and lead two distinct teams: our macOS client team and our backend services team.
The Senior Manager, Engineering Opportunity -------------------------------------------- We are seeking a seasoned and strategic engineering leader to own the end-to-end Okta Device Access experience. As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead both our native macOS client engineering team and our backend services team.
Responsibilities -----------------
- Strategy: Drive the end-to-end technical vision, identify new opportunities, and ensure a sustainable long-term architecture.
- Execution: Lead delivery of high-quality client and backend services, remove roadblocks, and ensure cross-team alignment.
- Team Development: Coach and grow engineers, own the hiring and performance strategy, and build a culture of excellence.
- Leadership: Influence cross-functional partners, manage conflict, make tough decisions, and lead by example with a growth mindset
Requirements ------------
- Proven Leadership: 5+ years of people management experience, with a track record of leading successful engineering teams.
- Technical Depth: Strong background in either backend (distributed systems) or client (macOS/iOS) development, with a solid understanding of the other.
- Strategic Execution: Demonstrated experience in roadmap planning and delivering complex, cross-functional projects.
- Expert People Manager: Ability to coach senior engineers and managers, with experience in performance management, promotions, and hiring.
- Agile Expertise: Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, agile/CI/CD environment.
