Description
NVIDIA is seeking a Physical Design Methodology and Operations Engineer to join a small team that owns the infrastructure powering NVIDIA's semiconductor design flows. You'll own a functional area within the team while contributing across broader operations.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and supporting mechanisms for coordinating and maintaining large-scale semiconductor design tasks across multiple global datacenters.
- Owning the architecture of one or more platform components , defining interfaces, data models, and service boundaries that can scale and evolve.
- Leading the modernization of legacy services , evaluating existing Perl and Python backends, proposing migration strategies, and driving execution with the team.
- Debugging and improving production services spanning web browsers, containerized microservices, and bare-metal Linux hosts.
- Building and improving web interfaces to configure, launch, and analyze EDA tools and design flows.
- Mining and analyzing large datasets of job execution telemetry and tool quality-of-results data to improve flows and catch regressions.
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to design reviews and technical standards across the team.
- Helping invent next-generation semiconductor design methodology.
- Optionally, contributing directly to the physical design of GPU, CPU, SoC, and networking products , a rare opportunity for an infrastructure engineer.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or computer systems engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of designing and delivering production systems.
- Strong software architecture and design skills , experience defining service boundaries, APIs, data models, and system interfaces.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Perl; comfort with JavaScript and web technologies.
- Experience with distributed systems at meaningful scale.
- Proven ability to lead a project through its full lifecycle, from requirement solicitation to architecture design, to implementation, to maintenance and support.
- Comfort owning and debugging Linux-based production services.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with workflow orchestration systems (Airflow, Argo, Temporal, Luigi, or similar).
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch / Kibana / Vega for telemetry and dashboarding.
- Experience with MSSQL/Mysql/SQLite or other relational and NoSQL datastores.
- Exposure to Static Timing Analysis or VLSI physical design.
