Description

We are seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join our M365 Core team, focusing on Frontier, a new product that fine-tunes large language models (LLMs) on tenant data.

The ideal candidate will have research skills and experience in language model training, data pipelines, and shipping high-quality models.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute training pipelines for large language models post-training.
  • Develop experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of LLM-based solutions.
  • Implement inference solutions incorporating post-trained models.
  • Collaborate with the team to ship solutions to customers.
  • Document experiments and communicate results.
  • Mentor early-career team members.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in a relevant field (Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
  • Relevant experience in statistics, predictive analytics, or research.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field with additional experience.
  • Experience in creating publications, presenting at conferences, and conducting research.
  • Familiarity with Python, ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch), and reinforcement learning.
  • Experience training/fine-tuning AI/ML models, particularly LLMs/SLMs.

The typical base pay range for this role in the U.S. is $119,800 - $234,700 per year, with variations in certain locations.
