Description
We are seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join our M365 Core team, focusing on Frontier, a new product that fine-tunes large language models (LLMs) on tenant data.
The ideal candidate will have research skills and experience in language model training, data pipelines, and shipping high-quality models.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute training pipelines for large language models post-training.
- Develop experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of LLM-based solutions.
- Implement inference solutions incorporating post-trained models.
- Collaborate with the team to ship solutions to customers.
- Document experiments and communicate results.
- Mentor early-career team members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in a relevant field (Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
- Relevant experience in statistics, predictive analytics, or research.
- Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field with additional experience.
- Experience in creating publications, presenting at conferences, and conducting research.
- Familiarity with Python, ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch), and reinforcement learning.
- Experience training/fine-tuning AI/ML models, particularly LLMs/SLMs.
The typical base pay range for this role in the U.S. is $119,800 - $234,700 per year, with variations in certain locations.
