Telephone Nurse Triage - Atrium Health Wake Neurosurgery On-Site FT

We are seeking a Telephone Nurse Triage to join our team at Atrium Health Wake Neurosurgery in Greensboro, North Carolina. As a Telephone Nurse Triage, you will provide patient-centered care, acting as a partner and advisor to patients and families, helping them manage their healthcare. You will apply critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially for patients with complex problems or life-threatening conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Provide patient/family-centered care, respecting culture and values, individual needs, health goals, and treatment preferences.
• Apply critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment.
• Ensure proper scheduling and follow-up on test results for providers.
• Use active listening skills, approved protocols, and evidence-based practice to explain test results and medications to patients.
• Participate in own professional development, maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking assistance or educational offerings.
• Focus on patient safety and quality of nursing care, applying nursing interventions, promoting patient advocacy, and evaluating patient outcomes.
• Maintain knowledge of care teams for coordination of patient care, self-management, population management, and communication skills.
• Adapt personal communication style to meet patient needs in diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate exceptional assessment, critical thinking, and customer service skills.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with two years of acute care experience required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients through technology methods.
• Ability to seek out resources independently and work collaboratively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership, and others.
