Description

As an Armoured and Defence Business Development Manager at Alcon, you will be responsible for generating profitable sales in the Armoured and Military markets to both existing and new customers.

You will report to the Head of Sales and have 1 direct report, an Internal Account Manager.

Key activities include:

  • Driving profitable business via effective solution selling into the Armoured and Military markets
  • Planning and managing the sales process, including contract negotiation and payment
  • Reporting to the board of directors on market updates, sales, prospects, and product development
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders and playing a part in the Management team
  • Utilising the USA Team to drive business development in the region
  • Acting as primary commercial contact for new and existing Armoured and Military customers
  • Fulfilling the commercial role of engineering change management for existing customer projects
  • Working closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely updates to customers
  • Overseeing the Internal Account Manager in processing sales orders
  • Liaising with the Engineering department to establish technical specifications
  • Supporting the Internal Account Manager with customer enquiries
  • Developing a network of relationships with decision influencers
  • Assisting with other sales office duties as required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven track record in Business Development within the Automotive industry
  • Previous experience as a supplier into Armoured and Military sectors
  • Chassis/brakes experience preferred but not essential
  • Degree level intellect with demonstrable experience in selling mechanical/technical products
  • Some personal contacts within the Armoured and Military industries
  • Equally comfortable with commercial and technical negotiations
  • Export license knowledge preferred but not essential
