Description
You own whether the test program delivers on schedule, on cost, and at the throughput the production ramp demands. Your accountability is the program-level outcome: are we testing fast enough, at low enough cost, with high enough confidence to support delivery commitments?
Success in this position hinges on three key facets:
- Program-level test performance - you drive test plan development and acceptance criteria alongside engineering, but you own the schedule and cost outcome. When test is the bottleneck, you diagnose why, challenge priorities, and make the call on what moves.
- Automation maturation - what takes days today needs to take hours as rate scales. You drive the prioritization and investment decisions that make test automation real, not aspirational.
- Technical credibility - you understand the systems well enough to ask the right questions when a test fails. You do not wait for escalation. You drive resolution across engineering and production because you understand the technical context.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Owning schedule and cost performance of the production acceptance test program, driving throughput to match production ramp targets
- Driving test plan development and acceptance criteria alongside engineering, ensuring test scope is sufficient without being excessive
- Identifying and driving automation maturation opportunities, prioritizing investment against schedule and cost targets
- Driving resolution of test failures across engineering and production, diagnosing root cause and ensuring corrective action holds
- Interfacing with government test organizations, ensuring test cadence supports customer delivery commitments
- Building the systems that connect test results to engineering and production decisions, making test data actionable not just archival
- Owning test schedule risk identification and mitigation, intervening before bottlenecks compound into delivery slips
- Leveraging quantitative models (test optimization, predictive pass/fail analysis, throughput modeling) to inform test program decisions
- Preparing technical documentation, analysis reports, and briefings for internal teams, customers, and government stakeholders
- Maintaining reproducible analysis pipelines using version control, scripting, and scalable workflows
You will need to have:
- 5+ years in technical program management, test engineering, or test operations in complex hardware or aerospace environments
- Demonstrated ownership of test program schedule and cost performance in production or acceptance testing contexts
- Experience driving test automation strategy and implementation in hardware production environments
- Technical depth sufficient to understand test failures, challenge root cause analysis, and drive resolution across teams
- Experience coordinating with government test organizations or customer acceptance processes
- Comfortable building or interpreting quantitative models to inform test and schedule decisions
- Familiar with version control, scripting, scalable workflows, and reproducible analysis practices
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or autonomous systems production test environments
- Proficiency with data tools such as Palantir Foundry, test data analytics platforms, or custom analysis stacks
- Background in test optimization modeling, discrete event simulation applied to test throughput, or predictive analytics
- Experience scaling test programs alongside production ramp from low rate to full rate
- Familiarity with acceptance test procedure development for complex electromechanical or avionics systems
