Description
As a Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability and reliability of our data center operations. This is a hands-on role focused on hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and support of mission-critical infrastructure. You will work onsite at one of our data center locations and may participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hours operational needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining data center operations to ensure service availability and reliability Conducting hardware and network diagnostics and repairs Performing root cause analysis of hardware and software failures Training internal teams Developing documentation Providing technical support to data center teams Developing scripts to update server and networking hardware Maintaining inventory Assembling and installing equipment Performing maintenance of test and tool equipment Traveling up to 10% of the time to other data center locations as required by business needs Responding to on-site equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes while scheduled on-call
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and assembly Experience working with Linux operating systems Ability to regularly transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing diagnostic and repair tasks Ability to maneuver in cramped or elevated spaces, including under-floor areas or on ladders, to access server racks Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, including handling small hardware components and cables Availability to work a flexible schedule within a 24/7 environment, including participation in a rotating on-call shift Experience in data center environments Experience with computer networking Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages Experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field
