Description
Engineer the Future with Us
We currently have 753 open roles
Senior Applications Engineer - Parasitic Extraction
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide hands-on technical support to customers using STARRC and R3D extraction tools, diagnosing issues, tuning flows, and ensuring accurate parasitic models
- Collaborate with R&D to escalate complex issues, reproduce problems, validate fixes, and communicate solutions back to customers
- Deliver technical presentations, training sessions, and live demonstrations on extraction optimization and runtime reduction
- Develop automation scripts in Python, TCL, PERL, and BASH to streamline workflows and support QA/QC processes
- Manage customer engagement programs including project planning, milestone tracking, and reporting aligned with design schedules
- Evaluate new STARRC features, test compatibility across customer environments, and provide feedback to product teams
The Impact You Will Have
- Accelerate customer tape-out schedules by resolving extraction bottlenecks that would otherwise delay silicon delivery
- Improve parasitic model accuracy used in timing closure, power analysis, and electromigration checks across leading-edge designs
- Drive adoption of Synopsys extraction solutions in Korea's semiconductor ecosystem, strengthening customer relationships
- Influence STARRC product development by surfacing actionable insights from real-world customer deployments
- Reduce support escalations by building automation and documentation that empowers design teams to self-serve
- Enable competitive wins by demonstrating technical superiority and responsiveness that differentiate Synopsys
What You'll Need
- BSc in Electrical Engineering with 9+ years experience, or MSc with 7+ years in semiconductor design or EDA applications
- Hands-on experience with parasitic extraction tools, ideally STARRC, including setup and troubleshooting for advanced nodes
- Familiarity with layout verification tools such as Calibre or ICV
- Ability to run transistor-level simulations using HSPICE or SPECTRE on post-layout netlists
- Custom layout experience and knowledge of electromigration analysis and reliability checks
- Proficiency in Linux and scripting languages including Python, TCL, PERL, and BASH
- Experience in FAE, PAE, or CAE roles with technical customer support and program management. QA/QC experience is a plus.
Who You Are
- You can take 'extraction runtime is too slow' and diagnose whether it is mesh density, hierarchical flow configuration, or layout partitioning
- You present technical content to senior engineers, translating tool capabilities into outcomes without oversimplifying
- You manage multiple customer engagements, tracking open issues and escalations without dropping threads
- When a customer pushes back, you ask why, understand their constraints, and find a solution that works
- You debug failing extraction runs using log files and simulation results even when the root cause spans multiple tools
The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will join a dynamic Product Engineering team based in South Korea, dedicated to supporting leading semiconductor companies in their design and verification processes. The team collaborates closely with R&D, product management, and sales, ensuring customers receive the highest level of technical support and guidance. Together, you will play a crucial role in advancing Synopsys' technology adoption and driving customer success in a rapidly evolving industry.
